Big day
today. Quick b’fast and out to the school to get cracking. The boys are coming
along very well with the roof and work well as a team. Liz decided there was a
bit of a gender imbalance and joined the boys. They finished the first
classroom and have moved onto the second. Chilly, after spending all morning
MIA, puttied the screws and the roof now needs to dry, be sand papered and then
given the final coat of paint.
Keith
knocked over a box of screws and rather than have to bend down and pick them
up, Grant lay down on the ground to pick them up. He claimed it was the only
way he could get a rest.
A piece of
board had to be measured and cut. Once measured, Steve went out to cut the
piece and one end. When he went back in he thought, bugger, I’ve cut the wrong
end. When he went to fit the board, he had cut the right end and couldn’t
believe he had actually doubted himself.
Keith has
been up the ladder preparing the roof for the chicken wire. Rick has also
pitched in to help with this task. Shirley and Michelle have been working away
at putting up the chicken wire. Hard yakka.
There was
some more painting needed done, which John and Kathryn jumped in to complete.
Mez and
Diane spent the day replacing a few louvre mechanisms and louvres. We hit a
snag as nothing is ever made to fit but perseverance prevailed and we managed
to work around the problem.
Home again
then off to dinner and a show in a cave on the beach. Amazing night, the host
did go on and on a little, but the fire dancers were fantastic. At the end of the show, the host walked over to Mez and presented her with the lei he had around his neck. Steve thought to himself that the last person who should have been given that was Mez, as she had bagged him out all night! By mutual consensus, there was no partying in
the house tonight and everyone headed off to bed.
There is a real mixed bag of photos below, from the start of the day to the final photo, with Mez wearing the Lei.
