Day 7 at the School

30 Sep
  • Massive day with lots of results. The girls, Liz, Diane, Michelle and Shirley finished the tiling in the first classroom.

I bet Liz was glad the camera was at the other side of the room
Shirley maybe not so much!

  • Mez sanded the roof of the second classroom in anticipation of the roof being painted. The original plan was for Mez and Grant to do the painting, however, check out the Blog moment at the end of the Blog. Mez and 'Ioane painted the ceiling of the second classroom. .
sanding up is hard work
and now for the backbreaking  painting of the ceiling...
thanks 'Ioane, couldn't have done it without you...

  • and then prepping the floor for the girls to tile tomorrow!

  • The boys are going great guns with the security wiring with great assistance from our driver/jack of all trades Ricky.

Good job Gerry
 and you Phil...
and a well deserved rest.

  • Our resident Sparkie Keith working his magic on the lights in the classrooms.
And is that Grant working in the upright position?

  • Some photo moments, having a rest after lunch, just having a rest and the beautiful children.

I know boats
and children
Did you hear the one about?
in the resting position!

And then we went to The Billfish for the Mr Macka competition. Funnily enough, it was Mez's first night out for dinner and boy did she have an absolute blast. Chilly was so excited to see her actually eat dinner that he insisted on taking a photo.
Now Mr Macka is a competition run for charity, where about a dozen young Tongan men are chosen from all walks of life and are groomed for approx 5 weeks prior to the comp in how to walk, talk, dance and present themselves and give them confidence they may never have had. The competition was hosted by Miss Frangipani, a 7 foot transvestite!! It was a fabulous night and also included Mr Tonga. Mez was in her element. Miss Frangipani got between Mez, her camera, and Mr Tonga. Mez told Miss Frangipani to get out of the way, so she ordered Mez up onto the stage to experience Mr Tonga first hand. Mez did not need any encouragement. Then there was the lucky ticket prize of a Mr Macka hat. Guess who's number got called out? yes, it was Mez, and Miss Frangipani didn't believe that Mez had a legitimate ticket to start with. And then there was the dance competition with Mr Tonga. Liz and Diane decided  they would enter into the comp and headed up to the stage. Then Miss Frangipani told them they had to pole dance using Mr Tonga as the pole. Liz and Diane very quickly came back to the table. Miss Frangipani decided then that Mez had to come up and dance for her sins. No need for any encouragement, Mez was up there in a flash! Had an absolute blast and came second in the comp. 57 year old Mez was beaten by a cute 22 year old blonde girl from Wales. She was absolutely lovely and actually apologized to Mez and said she thought Mez should have won. What a hoot!

The winning Ticket!
